हिंदुस्तानी का आग्रह क्यों की दृष्टि से फारसी-अरबी के विदेशी शब्दों एवं देशी तथा संस्कृत शब्दों के समयोग से एक नई भाषा वा शैली का निर्माण कर उसे हिंदुस्तानी के नाम से चालू करना चाहती है वह व्यवहार में ऐसी फारसीमयी हिंदुस्तानी हो जाती है जिसे बंगाली, महाराष्ट्री, गुजराती, आंध, द्राविड़, उड़िया आदि नहीं समझ पाते और जिसे विहार, युक्तप्रांत, राजस्थान, मध्यप्रांत की जनता भी अपनी भाषा नहीं समझती। हाँ, उक्त प्रांतों की मुसलिम-मंडली तथा पंजाब और पश्चिमी युक्तप्रांत के कुछ पढ़े-लिखे हिंदू और सिख उसे अवश्य समझ लेते हैं। तात्पर्य यह कि राष्ट्र की दृष्टि से उसे कोई विशेष महत्त्व नहीं मिल सकता। समूचे देश के विचार से हिंदुस्थानी अर्थात् हिंदी भाषा और नागरी लिपि का ही स्वागत होगा क्योंकि इन्हीं से अन्य प्रांतों की एकता सिद्ध होती है । अच्छा, तो उनका मूल कथन है - “The Congress is now proposing to create, out of the common Khari-Boli or Theth basis of Hindusthani, which forms the bedrock on which both Literary High - Hindi and Urdu stand, a New Speech or New Literary style, with the avowed intention of holding a just and proper balance between the foreign Persian and Arabic words in sisted on by the Musalman leaders and the native Hindi and Sanskrit words insisted upon by Hindus of the Hindusthani area and of the rest of the country.
