१८८ रस-मीमांसा VARIETIES OF POETIC ART. Two kinds of imagination--(1) Dramatic imagination (2) Lyric or egoistic imagination. Accordingly poets are either of Relative vision or Absolute vision. I. Lyric or relative vision (a) Pure lyrists can sing with their one voice only one tune, ie, they are occupied with their own feelings and emotions and have no vision of the world around. (b) Epic poet can sing with his ono voice many times. He has wide imagination but still relative or egoistic. Ho soes general humanity 'typified by himself in the imagined situation. He transmutes his own 'me' into many shapes. He cannot create another 'me'. A large number of epic poets and dramatists come under this category. Entire body of Asiatic poets, even Indian dramatists. have relative vision. Indian dramatists have n10 absolute or true dramatic vision, II. Absolute or True dramatic vision Only true dramatists can create characters wholly in lependent of their own self. They do not deal in general characters as
