पहले विश्व की आत्मा तक पहुँचता है और उसी को ब्रह्म मान लेता है। इस पर एक ब्रह्मज्ञानी इस प्रकार उसकी भूल सुझाता है—

And dids't thou think this present sensible world
Was God?
It is a name.............
The name Lord God chooses to go by, made in language of stars and heavens and life.
"अरे मूर्ख! तू ने क्या इस प्रस्तुत गोचर जगत् को ब्रह्म समझा था? यह तो आकाश, नक्षत्र और जीवन-रूपी भाषा में व्यक्त एक नाम है जो अपने लिए उसने रख लिया है।"
अन्त मे चराचर की सीमा पर पहुँचकर वह अपने अन्तस् के अदृश्य अधिष्ठाता से पूछता है—
Seeker—Then thou art God?
Within—Ay, many call me so.
And yet, though words were never large enough To take me made, I have a better name.
Seeker—Then truly, who art though?
Within—I am Thy Self.
जिज्ञासु—तो फिर तू ही ब्रह्म है?
